Portobello Road Market is located in the visually beautiful Notting Hill area in London, England. While the market began in the 19the century as a fresh food market it is now the largest antique market in the United Kingdom.

Whether you’re in the mood to browse or buy, the Portobello Road Market is an amazing place to visit. Before arriving in London I knew I wanted to purchase antique keys to display in my home, the Portobello Road Market was the perfect place for me to find exactly what I was looking for. I also purchased a genuine antique engraving (Date: 1850).

I absolutely loved the Portobello Road Market!

Paris has always held a special place in my heart. As a result there was no other place in the world that I could think of than to return to the romantic city of Paris to celebrate my wedding anniversary.

A View To Wake Up To

A View To Wake Up To

When deciding on the perfect hotel for our stay in Paris I immediately knew I wanted a view of the Opéra Garnier. The Opéra Garnier, the opera house inspired the fictional play Phantom of the Opera. An added bonus was the fact that the Phantom of the Opera is my favorite Broadway play.

Our opera house view room was located on the second floor with an amazing view of the Opéra Garnier. The amazingly beautiful view of the opera house brought tears to my eyes the first time we walked into our room. The view of the Opéra Garnier at night was breathtaking.

Our mornings began each day with breakfast at the Café de la Paix which opened in 1862. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of items such as eggs, bacon, fruits, breads, etc. along with the availability of specialty omelet orders by the chef.

We found the La Verrière, winter garden, to be a relaxing area to have a cup of cappuccino and a meal. A drink at the lobby bar was equally as relaxing after a long day of sightseeing and shopping.

During our flight to Paris my luggage was damaged. I did not know the extent of the damage until we arrived at the hotel. Before checking out of the hotel I went to the concierge desk to request tape to ensure that no further damage would be done during our upcoming flights. The head concierge without hesitation found sturdy tape and personally taped my luggage.

Paris will always hold a special place in my heart as well as the view of the Opéra Garnier which helped to make our stay as memorable as we had hoped it would be!

The Principality of Monaco

In preparing to write this post of my visit to the Principality of Monaco, I found myself at a loss for words. I could not think of words that would do justice to the beauty of this captivating country. Monaco is located on the Mediterranean coast, east of Nice, France surrounded on three sides by France. The Principality of Monaco is the second-smallest independent state in the world, after the Vatican City. Monaco is divided into four sections: Monaco-Ville, the old city on a rocky promontory extending into the Mediterranean; La Condamine, the section along the port; Monte-Carlo, the principal residential and resort area; and Fontvieille, a newly constructed area reclaimed from the sea.

The night before our arrival to Monaco I was so excited and filled with anticipation that I could barely sleep. We all have destinations in the world that we have always wanted to visit, Monaco was certainly high on my list of must see locations. I felt very fortunate to be able to fulfill this dream. When you think of Monaco you can’t help but think of extreme luxury at its best. I found myself thinking about the fairy tale romance of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III.

This was especially true standing in front of the Cathedral of Monaco where Prince Rainier married Grace Kelly and where they are both now laid to rest. The view of the Mediterranean Sea in front of the Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking; it is a view that will linger with me forever!

The historic Willard InterContinental is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. With that in mind the Willard has made many changes to its guest rooms and its bistro restaurant the Café Du Parc.

Below are some of the amazing dishes served at Café Du Parc.

One of our favorite things to do in the warmer months is to have lunch at Café Du Parc’s outdoor seating area. It is a great place to people watch and enjoy delicious French food in Washington, DC!
