Castillo de San Cristóbal Fortress, built on the San Cristóbal hill, is the largest Spanish fortification in the New World. The fort was built in approximately 1634 by the Spaniards as part of a defensive system in Old San Juan to protect against land based attacks. The Spanish spent hundreds of years fortifying Old San Juan in order for Spain to control access and commerce in and out of the New World. San Juan’s rich port area was protected by the Castillo San Felipe del Morro Fortress.

San Juan, considered a melting pot, is a welcoming city filled with rich culture old and new. With its blend of 16th century buildings, cathedrals, narrow cobblestone streets, open air markets, trendy restaurants and clubs and its National Rain Forest better known as El Yunque. Its beaches are considered by many as some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean.

The English countryside is one of the most beautiful and serene landscapes we at Scenic Runway have ever seen! The rich green color of the grass is so stunning which is undoubtedly in part the result of the amount of rainfall in England. The beauty of the English countryside is breathtaking!

One of many nice things about Miami is the free automated people mover train system composed of three loops. Below are a few pictures taken while I waited for the Metromover at the station and while riding the Metromover around Miami!

Parque Genovés (Genovés Park ) Cádiz, Spain

20 April, 2015 (04:54) | European Travel, Scenic Views

While exploring the beautiful port city of Cádiz in the southwestern portion of Spain after an early morning rainfall I stumbled upon an entrance to Genovés Park. The air had that distinctive smell that comes after a rainfall. The wrought iron gates and interesting tree shapes gave the invitation of walking into something magical!
