Maintaining your regular workout routine when you travel can be difficult. Most hotels and cruise ships help to make the process easier by having state of the art gym facilities. Many of the facilities are open various hours to accommodate the business or leisure traveler. Be sure to check with the front desk at your hotel and/or cruise line for the hours of operation. On some cruise ships you may even find pilates classes, yoga classes and other related fitness activities.
Any traveler can tell you that eating is a huge part of the traveling experience especially on a cruise ship where there is food at every turn. As a result it is so easy to gain a few extra unwanted pounds while traveling. To keep the weight gain to a minimum try to maintain a variation of your normal medically approved workout routine. When you return home and step on your scale you will be glad you did.
Don’t forget to pack stylish workout apparel, which has become more readily available in recent years!

Streetcar at Greco Plaza
Taking a ride on a streetcar is a fun way to get to some of the attractions in Tampa, Florida. The yellow and red air conditioned electric streetcar is a replica of the Birney Safety Cars from the early 1900’s. Across from the Tampa Convention Center is the Greco Plaza station, where you can hop on a streetcar which gives you easy access to stops near the Channelside Bay Plaza, the Florida Aquarium, the cruise terminals and Ybor City.

Market Square Area in Marigot St Martin
Located in the northeast portion of the Caribbean is the island of Saint Martin which consist of two territories Dutch and French. Cruise ships normally dock at the A.C. Wathey pier in Philipsburg/St. Maarten. At the end of the pier you will notice a charming welcome sign to St. Maarten, as you move further inward you will find an information booth, jewelry shops along with local vendors, souvenir shops, seating area, musicians and the best tasting coconut smoothie ever, all in a beautiful festive Caribbean atmosphere. St. Maarten/St. Martin’s beaches are absolutely beautiful. Marigot, the French capital, has a European atmosphere with boutiques, sidewalk cafes and waterside open-air markets. The brick oven baked pizza at a local bistro in St. Martin was delicious, the friendly and entertaining service along with the cooling mist from the ceiling fan was certainly worth the visit. The atmosphere in the Market Square/Marigot Bay area in Marigot, St. Martin is reminiscence of the French Rivera.
St. Maarten/St. Martin has the reputation as the “Friendly Island†which the island works hard to live up to.

Pont de l’Archevêché Bridge
The Pont de l’Archevêché Bridge crosses the Seine River in Paris. Love padlocks fill the bridge railings, lovers write their name and that of their loved ones onto the padlocks which is then affixed to the railing. This ritual symbolizes eternal love. Prior to arriving in Paris, I had heard of this ritual and knew I had to participate in it. After all my husband and I were in Paris celebrating our wedding anniversary!
The bridge railing closest to Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris was filled with padlocks. As a result, I selected a spot on the other side of the bridge to affix my love padlock.
My hope is that when we return to Paris that it will still be there symbolizing our eternal love!

Harbor in Tortola, BVI
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is an overseas territory of the UK located in the Caribbean, is comprised of 16 inhabited and more than 20 uninhabited islands; includes the islands of Tortola, Anegada, Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke. Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands whose capital is Road Town and its largest city. The British Virgin Islands has limited natural fresh water resources (except for a few seasonal streams and springs on Tortola, most of the islands’ water supply comes from wells and rainwater catchments). Because of traditionally close links with the US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands has used the US dollar as its currency since 1959.

Hillside Mural
Tortola is a beautiful island with scenic bays. The Cane Garden Bay is referred to by many residents as being paradise. After having spent some time on Cane Garden Bay it is easy to understand why residents feel this way. The scenic view of the Caribbean Sea on the way to Sky World perched approximately 1,500 feet above sea level is nothing less than breathtaking. Along the way are murals painted by local artists which line the hillside, each telling a story of the history of Tortola. Side by side the murals are displayed; it is truly an amazing site. Upon arriving at Sky World, from a steep driveway, the panoramic views from the observation platform of Tortola and the surrounding British and U.S. Virgin Islands is nothing less than spectacular.
